Tee-Off Golf Course Guide

Reviewed by Jason Van Bergen on 6/3/2006

If you are a regular golfer who enjoys trying new courses around your local vicinity, chances are that you are already familiar with the various frequent player reward and discount programs offered across geographical locations. Such programs tend to be bewildering in their range of discount and sundry offers, and often disappointing in the lack of real savings even when employing the program frequently.

The very best frequent player program is labeled “Tee-Off,” and it addresses many of the pitfalls of competing programs. Most importantly, the “Tee-Off” program offers discounts for the vast majority of courses in a region, if even the particular golf course in question is only able to offer a “4-for-3” golf package or a discount on food in its restaurant.

But many courses contained in the “Tee-Off” book go much further, with the largest number of “2-for-1” offers and the widest availability of said offers amongst any program, bar none. We were delighted to find several “2-for-1” offers in courses close to home, ensuring that all of the courses within the immediate radius surrounding TheCritics.org worldwide headquarters are going to see our editorial staff on their links regularly this season.

The other extremely useful aspect of the “Tee-Off” book for your local region is that it contains two-page maps and descriptions of EVERY golf course in the area, even if the course is not part of the discount program. This feature is invaluable if you are unfamiliar with the amenities of your local courses, and may even introduce you to some new links close to home that you were not previously aware of…

At a retail price of $39.95, the “Tee-Off” book truly pays for itself in only two rounds of “2-for-1” savings, and therefore makes it a “no-brainer” purchase for even the casual golfer, and a wonderful gift idea for Father’s Day, birthdays, or virtually any other occasion that might fall within the spring and summer season.
