Aside from the fact that most mainstream music listeners probably have not heard of any of the fore-mentioned bands, they also form the list of Underground bands that inhabited the Amphetamine Reptile Records label between the mid-1980’s and the mid-1990’s. Minor Minneapolis celebrity “Dr. Sphincter” (the name is exceedingly suitable for this DVD) hosts the “Dope, Guns & Fucking up Your Videodeck” video series, featuring the fore-mentioned bands in all of their glory.

While the bands whose videos are featured are as eclectic as their names, the Amphetamine Underground efforts pre-dated the dawning of indie rock or alternative music. On this basis alone, the “Dope, Guns…” DVD serves as a videography to a piece of rock-and-roll history, but most mainstream fans likely would not particularly need to know about this Underground chapter.
